Surachara Wirojratana

SURACHARA WIROJRATANA (pronounced Su•ra•cha•ra  Vee•row•ra•ta•na) is a local New York artist. Her love for painting has always been evident. Beginning to hone her skills in high school, she developed more profound skills and passion for art in college, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

For over 20 years, Surachara has painted many pieces for her own enjoyment and fulfillment. In 2016, she decided to take a leap of faith and pursue a new adventure: becoming a full-time artist.  

Impressionism and Expressionism heavily influence her paintings. She also loves to express her abstract art through colors and textures.   

Surachara is always exploring and challenging herself when painting. While thoroughly enjoying painting on wood, canvas, and paper, she grew eager to try a new medium to express her painting in a more three-dimensional way. 

In 1993, Surachara started to paint on tubes as an experiment. That was the birth of her passion and love for tube art painting. Her latest piece, using round wood, mixes her newfound love of tube painting with the joy of painting on wood.  The Malverne Art Walk, in June 2018 and 2019, featured some of these works

In 2016, Surachara was contemplating how to share her paintings with other people who might enjoy her art. She came up with two products to introduce her art to a broader audience—note cards and art mugs. Based on her original paintings, these products make unique gifts for anyone, for any occasion. Surachara enjoys the by-hand process of transferring her paintings to each mug as she creates the ceramic artwork.
